LifeSource DSA Action Team
Donation Service Area (DSA) Action Teams were first introduced at the 4th Annual National Learning Congress (NLC) in October 2008. A DSA Action Team has the charge to disseminate the goals, best practices and strategies of all previous Collaboratives to each organ procurement organization, transplant program and donor hospital within the DSA.
Teams will be comprised of:
- DSA Action Team Leaders plus
- Minimum one leader from each donor hospital
- Minimum one leader from each transplant center
- Physician Champions
- LifeSource hospital liaisons/hospital coordinators – all
- LifeSource education coordinator
- LifeSource HS managers
2011 LifeSource DSA Action Team Goals
Using a model for improvement:
- Eliminate missed donation opportunities
- Implement and evaluate use of catastrophic brain injury guidelines (CBIGs) and donor management goals (DMGs)
- Promote October 6, 2011 Donate Life Symposium
- Evaluate organ offer declines
- Review long-term outcomes for donation after cardiac death (DCD) and expanded criteria donors (ECD)
- Promote and honor donor designation
- Maximize tissue donation opportunities
- Develop MD champions
- Obtain access to electronic medical record (EMR) and remote EMR
