Team MN-DAK Readies for the 2018 Transplant Games
Team MN-DAK is made up of 25 transplant recipients who will represent Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota at the 2018 Transplant Games of America, which are being held August 2-7 in Salt Lake City Utah. An Olympic style competition, the Donate Life Transplant Games is a multi-sport event for individuals who have undergone life-saving transplant surgeries. More than an athletic event, the games highlight the critical importance of organ, eye and tissue donation while celebrating the lives of organ donors and recipients.
On June 14th, LifeSource held a fundraiser featuring special guest Chad Greenway and his Lead the Way Foundation to support the team. The evening was filled with inspiring stories from members of Team MN-DAK including Anna duSaire, a pediatric liver recipient who recently graduated high school and donor mom Patti Harvey, whose son gave the gift of life.
A special thank you to the sponsors of the event and Team MN-DAK: Mayo Clinic, LifeSource Board of Directors, LifeSource Clinical Policy Board, the families of Bruce and Neil Fink, Susan Gunderson and Dan Raether and Clarence and Debra Jones. An additional thank you to Kafe 421 for proving the food and beverages for the evening. As a result of the generosity of our sponsors and attendees, $34,776 was raised to support the team.
