LifeSource Recognizes Hospital Partners in South Dakota
LifeSource recently presented awards to two partners at the South Dakota Hospital Association Conference for excellence in organ, eye and tissue donation.
South Dakota Hospital Partner Award: Regional Health Rapid City Hospital
Regional Health Rapid City Hospital has been an outstanding advocate of organ and tissue donation for many years and 2017 and 2018 are no exception. So far in 2018, Regional Health Rapid City Hospital has collaborated with LifeSource on 8 organ donation cases, giving restored life to 23 people who have received life-saving transplants. Engagement in the mission of donation extends from emergency department efforts to decrease time and referral to ICU partnership in critical care pathways to a Rapid City nurse coordinator completing her doctoral thesis in donation.
Excellence in Partnership Award: SDAHO
South Dakota has the fastest-growing donor designation in the country, and is currently at 68% compared to a national average of 54%. We believe SDAHO’s outstanding leadership and publicly demonstrated commitment to organ, eye and tissue donation has influenced this growth. This leadership includes their significant efforts to raise awareness and promote donor registration within local communities through the Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign. For the fifth year in a row, SDAHO has achieved the highest possible recognition level in this year’s Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign, being honored with Platinum Recognition. SDAHO also supported hospitals in their efforts in the Campaign, and Platinum Recognition was achieved by Sanford USD Medical Center and Gold Recognition by Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center.
