Medical Examiner and Coroner Advisory Committee
The Medical Examiner and Coroner Advisory Committee (MEAC) was created in 2005 with the goal of meeting the needs of medical examiners and coroners in our region while preserving all organ and tissue donation options for the families we serve together.
In the past eight years, the MEAC has provided guidance on the updated medical examiner language for the revised Uniform Anatomical Gift Act (UAGA) that was subsequently accepted in all three states, the clearance guidelines for organ donation, development of the pre-autopsy tissue recovery form and donor photography protocols, among other things.
The MEAC brings together forensic professionals from Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota to provide guidance to LifeSource on protocols and procedures that involves medical examiners and coroners, introduce new or evolving donation and transplant developments and a time for case study review and discussion. The MEAC meets twice per year at LifeSource and we encourage you to join us for a meeting and/or provide topics for discussion.
