How the birth tissue donation process works
Choosing to donate is simple, and your care always comes first.
1. Learn about donation
If you’re interested, a member of the LifeSource team will answer your questions, explain the process and review a brief health history to determine eligibility.
2. Welcome your baby
Your labor, delivery and birth plan happen exactly as planned. Your healthcare team remains focused on you and your baby.
3. Donation takes place after delivery
Once your baby is safely delivered, trained staff recover the placenta that would otherwise be discarded. Neither you nor your baby experiences anything different.
4. Your gift helps others heal
Your donated birth tissue is carefully evaluated, processed and prepared for medical use, helping patients recover from wounds, burns and other serious medical conditions.

Our team will review a brief health history with you and answer any questions to determine eligibility. Certain medical conditions or infections may prevent donation, but we’re happy to talk through and address any concerns.
