Meet Our Team: Nicole Vande Weerd, Family Support Coordinator

Licensed Counselor and LifeSource Family Support Coordinator, Nicole Vande Weerd shares why caring for others is her passion and some ways to navigate grief.

My name is Nicole Vande Weerd, I have been a Family Support Coordinator with LifeSource for 3 years and a Licensed Professional Counselor for 11 years.

I have practiced in a multitude to settings such as, a youth correctional facility, school-based services for children with high-risk behavioral problems, and traditional individual and family counseling. I also spent some time working with the military as a counselor at Dover AFB, where I got to work with service members who honor of our countries fallen service members.

During my time at Dover AFB I got to work with some of the best, learning about how to care for those grieving families, friends, and fellow service members. This worked sparked a passion in me to care for those who are grieving but also do work that changes the world around you.

Supporting families who are going through the donation process is such a great honor for me. I feel blessed to meet each family and honor their loved one who is giving the gift of life to other through organ, tissue and eye donation.

While I don’t have all the answers, I want to share what I know. Below, are some ways to navigate grief with the people you love.
