
Alfredo Clavell
Alfredo L. Clavell, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Consultant, Division of Cardiovascular Diseases and Transplant Center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is the medical director of the Transplant/ LVAD program at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Clavell earned his undergraduate medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine, Ponce, Puerto Rico, and his postgraduate M.D. from Mayo Graduate School of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed his residency and fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases and Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His ABIM certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Advanced Heart Failure and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. His clinical interests include congestive heart failure (CHF), cardiac amyloidosis, heart transplantation and ventricular assist device (VAD) therapies. Research interests include novel immunosuppression strategies, pre and post LVAD implant respiratory/hemodynamic optimization, cardiac transplantation in amyloidosis and post heart transplant myocardial hypertrophy mechanisms.
