Maintaining Focus on Those We Serve
In my role at LifeSource, I support the clinical teams who strive to honor the wishes of donors and their families in fulfilling the gift of donation.
My father was a living kidney donor for my aunt, who also received a kidney and pancreas from a deceased donor. This led to my interest in supporting donation. When I began my nursing career, I volunteered to sit on my hospital’s organ donation committee, which I later came to chair.
My time spent caring for patients in critical care allowed for me to understand both the loss in death as well as the hope and life in donation and transplantation. I learned the importance of maintaining an organizational focus on those we serve: recipients, donors, donor families, and our care teams with whom we work.
What inspires me daily is the passion my team has for supporting our mission, and specifically, in supporting donors by honoring their wishes through the care and management they provide. I find true joy in supporting those with the skillsets and the abilities to facilitate donation and transplantation.
