Brody died on September 9, 2013 after his car was hit by a drunk driver. He was only 20 years old and had a huge life ahead of him – a life he loved and embraced. He was known for his kindness and laughter. His friends had quoted: “Brody was nice to everyone – that’s a good way to be.” He always found the positive qualities in everyone and everything.

Brody felt strongly about being a donor. He did not have to think twice about checking the box on his driver’s license. You see, Brody’s Grandpa Gene had a heart transplant in 1987. Although Brody never knew his grandpa, he understood the precious gift of life and the extra years our family was given with him. Music was Brody’s passion. He played guitar since he was 11 years old. He had two bands and enjoyed jamming with other bands traveling in the twin cities area. On the quilt square we chose one of his favorite band’s song titles: “Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die.” We framed his picture in fabric with music notes. The rock & roll emblem was for the type of music he enjoyed.

It is our hope that we will one day meet some of the recipients that Brody may have helped. We would love to gaze into those beautiful blue eyes one more time.
