What is a Clinical Resource Supervisor?

Clinical Resource Supervisors honor the gift of life by evaluating referrals for donation opportunities. Their attention to detail and coordination skills ensures every opportunity to save lives.

When LifeSource receives a referral for donation, it is the Clinical Resource Supervisor (CRS) who works with the hospital to evaluate whether or not there is potential for donation. When a person is able to become a donor, the CRS oversees the process using a combination of clinical and administrative expertise. They are responsible for the oversight of both organ and tissue donation. A CRS also manages team member needs and directs resources during clinical activity while anticipating when new cases will start and when current cases will be completed. Once gifts from generous donors are recovered, the CRS oversees the allocation process, ensuring that people on the Wait List receive life-saving transplants.

CRS’s work closely with hospital staff including nurses, doctor’s, Transplant Surgeons, Medical Examiners and Transplant Coordinators to ensure that donation opportunities are maintained. To save lives in this critical role, a CRS would have the ability to:

  • Have strong organizational skills while being able to multi-task;
  • Use customer service skills to resolve conflicts;
  • Take initiative to make decisions when necessary;
  • Combine analytical and critical thinking skills to solve problems.
