You, Me, and the DMV

Motor Vehicle offices are a key partner in organ, eye and tissue donation. Over 90% of people register to be a donor when they are at the DMV.

National DMV Appreciation Month recognizes DMV and Driver License Partners as integral partners in saving and healing lives. Every day, DMV staff members are asking customers to register and having conversations that have the power to save and heal lives through donation.

National DMV Appreciation Week was created by Donate Life America in 2016 to thank DMV’s and recognize them for their commitment to the Donate Life mission. It is a time for the Donate Life Community to show thanks and appreciation of motor vehicle partners across the country.

Earlier this year, many driver license offices across the country were closed for COVID-19. To offer more time for recognition and support of our DMV partners, Donate Life America has extended our celebration of National DMV Appreciation Week to National DMV Appreciation Month!

Partnerships with DMV’s remain the primary source of state donor registrations: Over 90% of people register to become a donor at the DMV. In our region, we support over 300 motor vehicle offices! DMV’s and driver’s license partners are the people on the front lines of service who have helped more than 160 million people across the country to register their decisions to be organ, eye and tissue donors.

Join us in helping to inspire DMV’s to see their support of donor registry enrollment as an important and meaningful responsibility in saving and healing lives!
