
George Surratt
George Surratt is a retired Quality Director at 3M, where he worked in the Medical Solutions Division for the Liquids and Actives Platform. He is based in St. Paul, MN, and has held various leadership positions in Quality Manufacturing, Engineering, and Lean Six Sigma.
He is enthusiastic about helping people achieve optimal health, education, and access to the arts. He donates resources to various non-profits working in these areas. As a recipient of a liver transplant in 2013 due to Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) and a kidney transplant in 2022 due to kidney disease, he dedicated himself to transplant advocacy.
He is a member of the board of LifeSource, an organization responsible for organ procurement in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and parts of western Wisconsin. Additionally, he has served on the board of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) from 2023 to 2025. His involvement includes participation in various committees such as the Finance Committee, Kidney Committee, and Executive Committee, as well as contributing to the Expeditious Task Force. These roles highlight his active engagement in organ donation and transplantation initiatives, emphasizing commitment to improving organ procurement processes and policies nationally.
George is equally excited about giving back to his community with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), accessibility for all, and leadership. As a result, he mentors students at his alma mater, serves on the Board of DIVAS for Social Justice, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, MN.
He completed his BS in Electrical Engineering at Oklahoma State University. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt, former board member of a St. Paul, MN nonprofit (Guild Inc.), and a former youth group volunteer through his local church. In his free time, George enjoys cycling, traveling, genealogy, and spending time with his wife, Lorna, and their adult children, Rachel and Shane.
