Karen Hecimovich

I support the team of Surgical Recovery Coordinators who actually work in the operating room during organ recoveries and ensure proper preservation & packaging of organs for transport and transplant. I also support the organization and other clinical teams to ensure preservation techniques and regulatory requirements are met regarding packaging and labeling of organs. Prior to joining LifeSource I worked in the operating room as a Certified Surgical Technologist and in the restaurant industry.

I work at LifeSource because I love being a part of the mission of donation, helping to give the gift of life to recipients and hope to the families of donors. Doing what we do puts a bad day in perspective and having a part in giving recipients more time to spend with their loved ones and experience life is a gift to me.

After a lung recipient and LifeSource team member spoke at my college when I was a surgical technologist, I turned to a friend and said, “I want to do that someday.” And here I am. 10 years later.
