A Guide to the LifeSource Golf Classic
LifeSource continues to monitor the recommendations and guidance of the MN Department of Health and Governor’s Office regarding COVID-19 in our communities.
All plans are subject to change based upon circumstances of the pandemic. We will keep you informed via email, text message via GiveSmart app, or the LifeSource Golf Classic webpage as conditions warrant.
Registration and Day-of Event Details
Are there any additional considerations and actions I need to take with event registration related to COVID-19?
Each participant and volunteer will be asked to complete the following within 24 hours of arrival at Majestic Oaks:
- A COVID-19 health screening; and
- The event waiver.
These resources are available through your GiveSmart account at http://www.Lifesource2020.givesmart.com. We plan to have staff available to monitor temperatures, if someone forgets to do this prior to arriving.
What will event check-in and the pre-golf activities look like?
Our goal is to promote contact-free transactions to keep all event attendees and volunteers safe. Check-in and purchase of special items (300-yard drive, special grab bag) and mulligans will be conducted through your GiveSmart app.
Volunteers will be available on the day of the tournament, should you need help with the GiveSmart app. Where possible, you are encouraged to create an account and get connected to our event during the week of September 14th.
Bag Drop: All golfers will be responsible to load their own golf bag to their assigned cart to minimize contact between event attendees and volunteers. Upon arrival, volunteers will be on hand to guide each golfer to their assigned cart this year.
Bathrooms: Bathrooms both inside and the additional portable toilets available throughout the course will be cleaned frequently. Hand sanitizer etc. will be available.
Where will masks be required at the event?
To comply with guidance from the MN Department of Health and the Governor’s Office and CDC guidelines, golfers and volunteers are expected to wear masks until you are on the course, or whenever you unable to maintain 6 ft of distance from others. All golfers will receive an exclusive LifeSource mask at check-in.
Will individual carts be available?
Individual carts may be requested by golfers if you are uncomfortable with sharing a cart. It is permissible in Minnesota for golfers who are not living in the same household to share a cart at this time.*
We recognize that not everyone may feel comfortable with this. Requests must be received by September 11, to allow the golf course to source any additional carts required for our tournament. You may indicate this information on the registration form (recently revised to include this question), or you may email your preference to Celeste Hanson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your name and the foursome name if known so that we can properly identify the groupings for carts.)
Food and Beverages
How will meals for the day be handled? What is the menu?
Lunch: Golfers will be provided with “grab and go” box lunches before the shotgun start (11:30 a.m.). The boxed lunches will include a sliced ham and turkey sandwich on focaccia bread with swiss cheese, tomato and lettuce, along with an apple, fresh baked cookie and chips. Water and soda will be served. Bar service will also be available.
Dinner: Because of the layout of Majestic Oaks, we decided we could not safely accommodate the social distancing on-site for the traditional dinner. As people wrap up their round of golf, there will be a grill station with burgers, brats or hot dogs. People may choose to eat the food socially distanced at Majestic Oak’s picnic tables, or they can take their food to go.
I have a dietary restriction. How can I let LifeSource know?
If you have specific dietary needs, please let us know, either via the online registration form or include it with your check payment, and you will receive a vegetarian and/or gluten free wrap. If you have already submitted your golf registration without your dietary restriction, please contact Jenna Culley at email@example.com.
Make More Stories Possible: A LifeSource Virtual Par-Tee
Will there be an evening program at the Golf Classic this year?
Because of the layout of Majestic Oaks, we decided we could not safely accommodate the social distancing on-site for the traditional program and silent auction. The program will now take place virtually from 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. Please join us from the comfort of your home, or wherever you are available to.
What is included in the virtual program?
We are planning for some special elements in this program as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Golf Classic.
Golfers who are present at Majestic Oaks will be automatically entered to a drawing for a $500 Visa gift card, but you must be “present” during the virtual program to win. Announcement of golf winners and other special prizes will be announced during this program too.
There will be two special items available for a live auction. Details to be announced soon. You won’t want to miss it!
Who can participate in the virtual program?
Everyone is invited! We are extending the invitation to those who weren’t able to join us for golf, and anyone with an interest in learning more about LifeSource, this event and organ donation.
Will there be a silent auction this year?
This year, our silent auction will be conducted through the online bidding platform GiveSmart. Silent auction bidding registration is now open. Register today on www.LifeSource2020.Givesmart.com or text Lifesource2020 to 76278. A preview of the silent auction items will be released on Monday, September 14.
Be ready to bid starting on Friday, September 18 at 3:00 p.m. through Monday, September 21st at 8 p.m. There will be two special items available for a live auction during the virtual event. Details to be announced soon. You won’t want to miss it! Watch for more updates on LifeSource’s Facebook.
What happens if I win a silent auction item?
Congratulations! We will coordinate distribution of silent auction items with the winning bidders during the week following the tournament. This could include mailing, delivery or curbside pick-up at the LifeSource Minneapolis office depending upon the item, the individual and their location.
